The works completed during term time while the remainder of the school remained operational. Meetings during mobilisation to agree site set up and logistics, to ensure the safety of the pupils and minimisation of disruption to the school.

Works commenced with significant asbestos removals by specialist contractor before extensive strip out of the interior of the building.

Weekly meetings with Project Officer allowed some details to be changed as the project developed, a constant monitoring of quality, delivery of critical path item and continual focus on programme and budget, all contributing to the success of the project and the positive feedback on completion.

Internal refurbishment works included dry lining to walls, new internal timber doors, flooring and decoration. Alteration works required the installation of structural steelwork to create new toilets and hygiene room.

All works completed inhouse except asbestos removal, groundworks and surfacing, mechanical and electrical and external aluminium doors.

External works required the demolition of the old bin store, excavations and groundworks installation of concrete pads for canopies, tarmac surfacing of hard standing areas, landscaping to soft verges, artificial grass to play zones and timber fencing to segregate areas.

There was a number of minor variations instructed by the Project Officer as the works progressed, e.g. additional plastering, installation of window blinds, sort roof leak, replace window sills. Etc and these were all completed within the original programme and managed on the financial appraisal.

An instruction was however received to undertake works in the gymnasium building to remove asbestos, dryline walls and decorate. This was arranged since all the required trades were already on site working in F Block. This work was therefore undertaken as a variation on the main contract but was worth 10% of the final contract sum and required an extension of time of 2 weeks.
