Pennington Infants School
Customer: Hampshire County Council
Project Title: Toilet Refurbishment Works (part of SME Framework Package 2)
Project Value: £60,000.00
The Brief: To completely strip out and refurbish 7 number toilets which included, asbestos removal (by specialist), flooring, cubicles, vanity units, sanitary ware, suspended ceilings, drainage, plumbing, decoration, accessible WC’s and mechanical & electrical alterations.
Key Features: High specification refurbishment to comply with Hampshire County Council strict requirements and latest legislation. Ambulant disabled cubicle and all associated fittings provided to each toilet. Cubicles 13mm solid laminate for outstanding durability and easy cleaning. Work was successfully undertaken during term time.
Value Added: This had to be executed within a very strict budget. After pricing the original design specification it was apparent that the client did not have sufficient funds to proceed with the original design.
Working closely with the project officer and the client we produced a revised specification that allowed all areas to be refurbished to an equivalent standard within the required budget. This was achieved through drawing on previous experience, by taking advantage of favourable relationships with suppliers, and the omission of unnecessary items.
The Result: A top quality toilet refurbishment delivered on time and within an extremely tight budget. An outcome which probably would not have been achievable through traditional procurement methods, as negotiation and excellent communication between all parties involved was essential.
