Access DDA & Regulation Work
The Disabled Discrimination Act (1995) DDA and its 2005 amendment are designed to reduce prejudice against the less able by requiring anyone who provides a service to the public to take reasonable steps to adjust any physical features of their building which could act as a barrier to less able people who wish to access their services.
Working under the regulations HP Contracts have undertaken the numerous improvement works including:
- Created access toilets with grab rails, alarms, lifting apparatus
- Installed internal & external access ramps and handrails
- Widened doorways, fitted vision panels
- Replaced flooring, tiling & decoration where visual delineation was insufficient
- Installed access lifts
- Laid tactile paving & dropped kerbs
